Support
Start with the checks below. Include the diagnostic log when contacting support.
Install and first camera activation
- Install Chhaya from the Microsoft Store.
- Open Chhaya and confirm its preview works.
- Enable the virtual-camera switch. Windows asks for administrator approval once so Chhaya can install its system-wide camera component.
- Keep Chhaya running while another application uses it; the camera has session lifetime.
If another application cannot see Chhaya
- Confirm the virtual-camera switch says it is live.
- Close and reopen the camera picker in the client application.
- Check Windows camera permission under Settings → Privacy & security → Camera.
- Try removing and reinstalling the virtual-camera component from inside Chhaya.
- Camera discovery and output are verified in Discord, OBS, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and browser WebRTC clients.
Before uninstalling
Use “Remove virtual camera from this PC” inside Chhaya first. MSIX uninstall cannot run cleanup code. Uninstalling without this step leaves an inert COM registration and approximately 400 KB under C:\Program Files\Chhaya, but no phantom camera.
Logs and local data
- Diagnostic log:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Chhaya\chhaya.log - Settings:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Chhaya\chhaya.json - Shared frame buffer:
C:\ProgramData\Chhaya\frame.bin
Review the log before sending it: file paths may contain your Windows user name, and the log names cameras and graphics adapters.
